Purpose of Site
Parenting does not come with a manual but this site can be part of your tool kit. Here you will find up-to-date, well researched articles on parenting and other Child Development related topics. The articles are informative with personal examples and links to short videos and readings. Whether you are a parent, an expectant parent, a teacher, or a college student, this site has something for you. I am always adding new articles, but if you don't see what you're looking for let me know. I hope you find the information here helpful.
The stats: I want to see a world in which people have as much information as possible when interacting with children. After working with children for many years, I became a college professor who taught Child Development at universities such as Cal State LA and CSU, Fullerton. I have been published in Psychological Reports and Social Behavior and Personality, and presented at conferences including Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) and Society for Research on Adolescence (SRA).
My philosophy: I believe that children should be treated with respect. I like to get down on the ground and see the world from the child's point of view. I've been married for 23 years and we have two great children and a crazy, fun dog.
